Academic Summer Camp Descriptions:
Inventors Camp: June 10-14
Learn about some of the great inventors and inventions. Develop a scientific question that leads to each student creating an invention of their own. Some will come up with a great concept and others might actually build their invention at camp.
Nature Camp: June 24-28
Anyone can learn how to start and keep an ongoing nature journal! Along the way, you'll develop skills in observing, sketching, and appreciating, and writing about what our local forest has to offer. Special guest; Brenda Fulfer has been trained in identifying, harvesting , and the medicinal use of our local plant life.
Survival Skills/Hunters Camp: July 15-19
Everyone who lives in an area like ours can benefit from basic survival skills. In this camp your child will learn basic first aid, how to start a fire to stay warm and how to build a survival pack to carry with them when they are out playing in our lovely surroundings. We will also talk about hunting and gun safety.
Wrench Camp: July 29-August 2
This is a unique camp we are offering this summer. Students will learn about the mechanics of how big and small engines work. They will get a chance to learn about simple maintenance, building and get a chance to get their hands dirty!
History of Valley County Camp: Aug 5-9
Students will explore the diverse cultures that make up the richness of Long Valley. We will be looking at Native American art and culture, as well as the folk art that is a product of our original homesteaders. We will be studying these cultures as well as trying our hands at several different crafts and art forms.
